Santa Cruz Highlights
Charles Darwin Research Station: A breeding centre and a house where baby-tortoises are incubated. The young tortoises are taken care of until they are old enough to be taken to their home islands and natural habitat.
Santa Cruz Highlands: Santa Cruz highlands offer the best opportunity for viewing wild Galapagos Tortoises in their natural habitat. The island possess all the life zones present in the archipelago. Many interesing places include: Lava Tunnels, sinkholes and craters to explore, the Twin Craters “Los Gemelos”, Cerro Crocker and El Chato.
Tortuga Bay: A trail path located southwest Puerto Ayora takes you to one of the most beautiful beaches of Galapagos. It is a pristine location covered with beautiful white sand beach, famous surf destination between the islands.
El Garrapatero Beach: A trail with an interesting vegetation of cacti leads you to a beautiful beach offering a landscape of black lava contrasted with shimmering white sand beach and turquoise water. Behind a small lagoon where ocassionally pink flamingos can be seen.
